Jehovah's Witnesses: remembering the weird and wacky!
by Vanderhoven7 indo you remember some of the weird and wacky stuff emanating from the watchtower society?
let's make a list from memory that we can use to inject a little humor into our discussions with jehovah's witnesses.
- venus may be an enormous jurassic park.. - germs don't cause disease.. - no beards allowed.

Science News article: ‘Case closed’: 99.9% of scientists agree climate emergency caused by humans
by Disillusioned JW ina news article has the headline of " ‘case closed’: 99.9% of scientists agree climate emergency caused by humans"; see https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2021/oct/19/case-closed-999-of-scientists-agree-climate-emergency-caused-by-humans .
the article says in part the following.. 'the scientific consensus that humans are altering the climate has passed 99.9%, according to research that strengthens the case for global action at the cop26 summit in glasgow.. the degree of scientific certainty about the impact of greenhouse gases is now similar to the level of agreement on evolution and plate tectonics, the authors say, based on a survey of nearly 90,000 climate-related studies.
this means there is practically no doubt among experts that burning fossil fuels, such as oil, gas, coal, peat and trees, is heating the planet and causing more extreme weather.. a previous survey in 2013 showed 97% of studies published between 1991 and 2012 supported the idea that human activities are altering earth’s climate.. this has been updated and expanded by the study by cornell university that shows the tiny minority of sceptical voices has diminished to almost nothing as evidence mounts of the link between fossil-fuel burning and climate disruption.. the latest survey of peer-reviewed literature published from 2012 to november 2020 was conducted in two stages.

Aluminum pots are poison. (I was raised on that and still eschew them)
During the tribulation we will travel in car caravans and will never run out of gas. Israelite clothes never wore!
Flood.
That organ thing; the literal heart controlled our thinking.

Just the lady ones. The men went to mars.
Actually the writers still pick up " "science" following things like global warming, plastic straws, daily covid fads. Not necessarily following though. ( buried ink)

Slim; actually used car salesman. (Buy here, pay here)
We used to have potlucks. Actually good times. One couple did formal dances in lieu of proms. Many moons ago a brother with land hosted target shooting.
The local good ol boys used machetes for swords and steel tipped spears in a drama. Made me nervous seeing elders act like 10 years old with them.

Strongly encouraged. Otherwise known as nagging. No microphone covers here nor wiping the stand between parts

Resistace to going back to meetings
by truthseeker inlot going on.
i had a covid divorce last year over zoom.
not pretty but i got a good deal.. anyway,.

The bigger resistance will be door knocking.
Zoom you can not dress up, get a coke, popcorn, catch up on dusting; or sit there and try to stay awake.
To draw people there needs to be more interesting meetings, a lucid message for starters.
Our speaker this year was very good, not preachy, down to earth. 25 zoom hookups, no idea how many traveled to a distant hall at a late hour. My homemade bread ( for wifes sake) was worse than last years. My box wine was vinegary. We dont partake.

Are You Concerned About Inflation?
by Simon ini saw a statistic the other day that something like 25% of all the debt that the us has incurred since 1776 was created in the last 12 months.
that's because they have printed so much currency and instead of letting that stop them, they are going to continue printing more to go on a spending spree on crazy green-new-deal schemes and union handouts.. does anyone think that this can be anything other than inflationary?
they are effectively stealing the wealth of everyone to then hand money out to people.

Memorial Letter Invite 2022
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy friend ( who knows that i was a witness at one time ) showed me a letter sent to his house by one of his neighbors.
he barely know the person, and this letter shows in his mail box.
does this witness really believe that anyone who receives this letter will attend the memorial?

That is the basic format everyone uses. Not much different than an in person call.
The " I give the talk" wasnt necessary. (I am important)
I have never heard of non jws attending except for family that is Invited

Response to "The Flood is Real, Because ..."
by Simon ini remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?
some desperate jw may show their ignorance by suggesting that man lived at the same time as dinosaurs and they are what the stories were based on.
fun fact: stegosaurus was a fossil when t-rex was alive for longer than it's been since t-rex has been a fossil to us - we're talking old, and no overlap (ignore the map in the cover of the old green bible).. do jws still even bother trying to defend the cray-cray aesop-fable kind of ot beliefs?.

"Its almost like a lot of the worlds cultures share a common beginning."
Very much. It is interesting to read the stories of Polynesians, chinese, Norse, europeans, navigating oceans and land, leaving unexpected dna in far flung areas.
